CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE ROTARY FOUNDATION

Rotary member voluntary contributions fund the Rotary Foundation projects. The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation and contributions are tax exempt. Contributors to the Foundation are recognized in the following categories:

PAUL HARRIS FELLOW: An individual who contributes or in whose name is contributed $ 1000 may request to be recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. Non-Rotarians may be Paul Harris Fellows.

PAUL HARRIS SUSTAINING MEMBER: An individual who states an intention to contribute $1000 over a period of ten years, with a minimum first contribution of $100.

MULTIPLE FELLOWS: Paul Harris Fellows who make additional contributions of $1000 to $5000 may request a new lapel pin with a sapphire for each $1000.

MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTOR: An individual or Rotary club contributing $100 in memory of a deceased person. A certificate will be issued in the name of either the donor or the deceased on request

BENEFACTOR: Anyone who informs the Foundation that he or she has made provision in a will or other estate plan in the amount of $1000 or more for the Permanent Fund of the Rotary Foundation. Only the earnings of the Permanent Fund are used to fund Foundation programs.

Contributions may be made through our club or sent directly to The Rotary Foundation, PO Box 75133, Chicago Il. 60675-5133Evanston, Il. 60201 Telephone 847 866 3000.

Many of our club members have contributed to special projects such as Polioplus and Sun Ovens For Haiti as well as undesignated contributions. Members may instruct the club Treasure to put a specific contribution on their quarterly bill which is the sent to the foundation and eventually the member has contributed $1000 and becomes a Paul Harris Fellow.

60% of the undesignated contributions may be used as matching funds for district projects and the other 40% goes to the other Foundation projects.

Donations go to the Rotary Foundation. and those funds go to local, national, and international humanitarian, educational, and cultural programs. The foundation has three major funds and a donor can direct their contribution to the Annual Programs Fund, Permanent Fund or Polio Plus.
