Two Rivers Rotary Club 2764
The 4-way Test-Of the things we think, say or do 1. Is it the TRUTH? | 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? | 4.Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

ROTARY PROGRAMS
HELPFUL HINTS

1 Start looking for a program 6 weeks in advance of the date to allow time to find the speaker and allow the speaker time for preparation audio-visuals if required. Start 8 weeks in the summer to allow for slow communication during vacations.

2 The primary criteria for a good program is it is interesting to at least half our members. Most of the uninteresting programs we have had in the past did not have any new information and was a rehash of information previously published it the newspaper. In the past, programs by elected and local officials have not been very interesting because they didn’t present any new information. Ask the speaker what new information will be presented that has not been in the newspaper. Will this information be interesting to our members?

3 Speakers who have an outline are more likely to be succinct and not ramble. Discuss an outline with the speaker.

4 Tell the speaker to speak for 10 minutes to 20 minutes.

Program Suggestions From District 6270 (Back to Top)

From 10/06 District News Letter: The District Governor has provided the Rotary Clubs of this district with a new resource. The District Governor will be supporting the district with Programs Assistance and will provide periodic updates in the DG newsletter regarding suggestions for quality programs. The DG will also act as clearing house for evaluating new programs and cataloging member club suggestions.

Here are a few suggestions:

• The University of Wisconsin operates an excellent Speaker’s Bureau, offering speakers on a wide variety of subjects.

• Politicians are always looking for a forum.

Perhaps an update to constituents regarding Madison or Washington? Perhaps a debate between candidates?

• Contact your local Radio and TV stations for appearances by local personalities.

• Read your local newspapers seeking out stories about new technologies. Invite the CEO to speak. Wear a membership hat and recruit the speaker to join your club.

• Request your city/village managers to appear. Another membership opportunity.

• Request District 6270 speakers: membership, Group Study Exchange, Foundation, International, etc.

• Do “Rotary on the Move”, hosting your meetingat a museum, YMCA, or school.

• Invite non-traditional law enforcement: U.S. Marshalls Service, Postal Inspection Service, WISCONSIN Homeland Security.

Feel free to call or email me regarding this new Programs resource
