Buse Sinlak is our inbound student from Izmir, Turkey (Izmir’s is Turkeys 3rd largest city and has the second most important port in Turkey. It is on the west coast of Turkey on the Agean Sea, east of Greece. It's population is 2.5 million +/- and 5 million in the provence. It is 360 mi from Instanbul- learn more). Buse has worked in student government, was head of the dicipline comittee, was in debate, worked for the student newspaper (in english), worked for student court, student goverment and council. She was a ballerina for 9 yearsand 1st in lzmir and 4th in Turkey. She loves listening music, watching movies, dancing in an aerobic dance group and acting. Her favorite author is Ayse Kulin. Her mother is a physical education teacher and girls basketbal coach at Buse's school (lzmir Ozel Turk Koleji) and her father is a contractor. Like most in her county, she is Muslim. Will your club take any other Turkish student as an exchange student or from which nations are you going to take for your club? You can pronounce my first name like that;buse=boose and my surname is Şınlak=shınlack. 1. What are your school interests and activities? What offices or leadership positions have you held?

1-)I worked in student goverriment, i was head of dicipline comittee. I have been in debates to support my ideas. Sometimes I have chaired the debates. I have done alot of presentations. I made speeches about democracy and turkish youth in a big forum at school.1 have worked for student newspaper(in english) at my school and also in another school in Newyork. Also I have worked for student court student goverment and council.I have attended comminity services to broaden my horizon, to see the realities of the life and to help other people.

2. What are your hobbies arid accomplishments? (e.g., art, music, sports, etc.) Elaborate on your interests in these areas. (e.g. Why did you become interested in the activity? How long have you been interested? How much time do you devote to the activity?)

 2-)I was a ballerina for 9years. I have become 1st in my city (lzmir) and 4th in Turkey. I love listening music alot and i love watching movies because they make me relax and peacefull.If i dont have to do something I can watch movies for whole day. Also  I have danced in aerobic dance group at my school And I love acting(in theathers) as a actrist.I acted as a Juliet in Romeo and Juliet play at my school. This year i dont have a lot of time to do sport but instead of this I am working for student newspaper, student government, student council.

3. What are your future plans arid ambitions concerning your education and future career? Why?

3-)I want to learn Italian alot and i want to be reporter at television channel. I want to study and graduate from 2 universities because i want to experience and i want to be the proffession of my job. I want to learn Italian because it's sound is great and for Tnal.

4. What do you specifically hope to accomplish as an Exchange Student, both during your year and when you return?

4-)I want to act in the school theathers during my exchange year and do some sports. I love American literature and history because of that I want to learn more in USM love writing plays and if it will be possible I am going to write one and play with my American friends at school. When I return to my country I will go on writing and improve my writing ability according this J want to publish my plays when I feel that every single thing is perfect.

5. Elaborate on the occupations of your mother and father. (e.g., What product or service does each make or perform? What is her/his position or title?)

5-)My mother is a physical education teacher. She is a teacher at a private school which’s name is lzmir Ozel Turk Koleji. Also I am a student of this school. Her branch is basketball. She is the coach of girl's basketball team. My father is a contractor. He is a free worker. He has customers and all of his customers has my father's telephone number according this if they need or some one else needs something (about their home or if they want a new house),they call my father and my father has workers and he sends his workers to that house and they build a new house or they fix something of that house.

6. Tell us about trips that you have taken outside your country. Why did you take these trips, with whom, for how long, etc.?

6-)I have been in Newyork for 3 weeks as an exchange student but our aim was writing student newpaper, set up a student government, working in student court and council. To join that program we had to write 2 essays about politics, democracy, my leadership specialists, student government, student newspaper and student council. 100 students wrote an essay and 30 of them were chosen and this program's Turkey director came and interviewed with us. And she eleminated 30 people and she chose 12 people, after that and American director came and she interviewed us too and she chose 6 people from 12.And I have chosen too. This pragram was too importand because every single thing was payed by American government. And I went to Newyork with my other 5 friends and represented my country sucesessfully.

7. We all dislike certain things. List those things which you dislike. (e.g., what kind of foods, certain animals, certain treatment. by other people, etc.)

 7-)I can eat everything, i dont have religious ideas (like pork...etc). I can eat whatever my host family eats. I hate snakes as an animal at house. I dont like very strict people, i think that at least everybody has to smile.

8. List what you feel are your strong characteristics.

8-)My horoscope is Leo and i dont really belive that kind of things but I really feel like leo. I like directing and orginising things.1 can die for my friends and for people who i love.1 can do and i can help to people whenever they want. All of my friends thinks that i am a really funny girl and also i am so talkative. If i promise once 1 never give up, this is one of my strong characteristic specialist.

9. List what you feel are your weak characteristics.

9-)If someone cries near me i start to cry and feel more sad than that people this is my worst characteristic specialist.

10. Describe a typical non?school day in your life. (e.g., What do you do when you have free time?)

10-)If 1 have a non school day i go to cinema or a restaurant with my friends. If i am at home 1 can take a shower, listen music, watch movies and read something.

11. Describe what you do at your school. (e.g., How many subjects do you take? What are they? How long are the classes? What is your daily schedule during your school year? Start with your wake?up time and discuss only one typical day's schedule.) If you have course choices at your school, tell what and why you chose as you did.

11 -)In Turkey we have departments at school. For example i am in a language department. I take 11 subjects at school , these are; english ewspaper British and American literaure, english grammer, german, religion, physicaI education, geography, history, psychology, nationaI security, turkish literature. Each class is 45 minutes.1 want to tell my friday school schedule to you.I wake up at 8:00 in the morning and go to school. First class starts at 8:45.F irst lessons are generally english and geography then we have p.e lessons, we go and change our clothes and play games and dance in p.e  lessons. And we have german, and after german we have english literature. We have 8 lessons everyday. After 8 lesson we go to our schools garden and sing our national song after ceremony i go to class again because i teach english to public school students volunteerly because they dont have enough english lessons at their school. I go to classes and teach them what they need and go to home at 5:00pm.

12. Describe your home. (e.g., Do you have your own room? Do you share your room with others? Where in your house do you study? How far is your home from your school? Do you drive, ride the bus, or walk to school?)

12-)My home has 3 rooms, I saloon, I kitchen and I rest room. I have my own room and i also study there. I dont share my room with someone else, because my brother lives in another city because of his university, but also he has his own room. I go to school on foot because my school is too cloze to my house.

13. How many brothers and sisters do you have, what are their ages and what do they do? (e.g., Do they live at home? Are they in school, university? What are they studying (degree goal)? If working, what is their job?)

 13-)l have one brother and he is 23 years old. He is studying in university. His university is in Arizona/Phoenix because of that he lives there. He studies supply chain management(logistic management).His university name is Arizona State University.

14. Describe your community. (e.g., location relative to major city, population. industry. economy, etc.)

14-)l live in a city which’s name is lzmir. lzmir is Turkey's 3rd biggest city Jzmir is harbour city. And weather is always soft and hot in my city. 5 million people live in lzmir. Agriculture is very importand and every kind of plant can grow up in my city'sland.1 live in Aegean region. There is a lot of resources in my region, like; gold, petrol(oil),marble ... etc.

15. What is your favorite book and author? Why? About how many books do you read each month?

15-)Ayse Kulin is my best author because she always writes about facts. I dont like fancy books. Her language is really clear and perfect. I read about 2 books each month.

16. Identify four major issues con fronting youth today. Select the most major issue arid tell us why it is of personal concern.

16-)Respect, democratic youth, ambition and to care about other people, these are the most importand issues for me and for youth. Respect is the key word of the life, love and peace. Respect is the most importand thing for me. if there is no respect, i can start to concern. Youth has to be respectful to others in order to take place in society. Youth have to be modem, trustworthy and RESPECTFUL. These are the major issues for today's youth.
