Host Families for Rotary Exchange Students

Each year the Two Rivers Rotary hosts one or two international students from any one of the following countries:
EUROPE: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine
ASIA: India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand
CENTRAL AMERICA: Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Mexico
SOUTH AMERICA: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela
SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE: Australia, South Africa, Zimbabwe

The ages of these students is from 16-19 years old. They are typically hosted by three families for four months each. Hosting is a wonderful opportunity for the entire family. Each family member is able to interact with an international student, perhaps learning some of their language, certainly learning some of their culture and how it differs from ours. Greater understanding is created between different nationalities.

This is what the host family is expected to supply for the international student:

1. Room (does not have to be a separate room, but a desk and separate bed are required)

2. Board

3. Participation in family activities (going out to eat, to the movies, family outings in general)

4. For the family to show them a typical American family and culture.

5. Rotary Travel- Rotary exchange students have opportunities to get together for various events through out the year. These may require getting the student to and from the event or to and from a pickup or dropoff point. Volunteers from the Two Rivers Rotary Club may be able to assist in these travel arrangements.

If you would like to be considered as a host family please fill out Host Family Application. If you are not from the Two Rivers Area and are interested in being a host family, contact the nearest Rotary Club in your area.
